Role Purpose Own the application and integration architecture, migration, and cutover for the spin-off. Ensure systems and data are separated from the parent entity in a controlled, auditable manner, with no dependency surprises at cutover. Key Responsibilities Define the target-state application and integration architecture for the new entity (including SaaS, on-premises, and cloud mix, environments, naming conventions, tenant strategy, and logging/monitoring standards). Map current-state dependencies across the legacy and shared landscape, encompassing shared services, databases, integrations, hosting, and identities. Determine separation patterns per system (such as clone, carve-out, re-platform, replace, or retire) and integration patterns (including API gateway, ETL, and file exchange). Build and govern the system inventory, integration catalogue, and technical decision record (TDR), enforcing standards via change control. Direct the application migration factory, managing data extraction, transformation, reconciliation, and validation strategies, alongside non-functional requirements and acceptance criteria. Coordinate SIT/UAT and regression/performance testing where required in collaboration with business owners (Finance, HR, Student Services, etc.). Plan and execute cutover strategies for applications and interfaces, managing freeze windows, delta loads, final reconciliation, and rollback procedures. Manage SaaS and enterprise application vendors regarding subscriptions, license transfers, and new services, while planning the decommissioning of legacy components post-cutover. Produce and socialize target architecture diagrams, dependency maps, and integration designs with Infrastructure and Security leads. Must-Have Spin-Off Experience Successfully led at least two end-to-end IT carve-outs, spin-offs, or separations covering application and integration streams, including data migration and cutover. Demonstrable success in preventing "hidden dependency" issues at cutover and sustaining integrations post go-live. Deliverables Target application and integration architecture. Resource Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience in application/integration architecture and migration; 5+ years leading complex, multi-system transitions. Hands-on experience with integration and data migration tooling. Strong proficiency in data governance, data quality, and reconciliation methods. Experience with identity-aware integrations and cross-tenant scenarios (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID). Domain advantage: Experience with higher education systems (SIS/LMS/CRM), finance/HR, and student administration. Excellent stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and technical documentation skills. English and Cantonese proficiency is required. Onsite presence in Hong Kong is required. Must be available for after-hours and weekend work around migration/cutover windows.
