Lead the logical and physical data modeling design, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across Silver/Gold data layers. Define standards for ETL/ELT design, data governance, and data lineage to ensure high-quality data delivery. Conduct technical reviews and health checks on data projects to ensure alignment with architectural standards. DataOps & Platform Design (The "Bridge" Function): Infrastructure Liaison : Translate data requirements (e.g., compute needs, storage access, security isolation) into detailed technical specifications for the Infrastructure Team to implement via Terraform/IaC. Code Review : Review Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible) deliverables provided by the Infrastructure Team to ensure they meet the specific needs of data workloads. CI/CD Strategy: Architect and oversee the design of CI/CD pipelines for data applications (using Azure DevOps), ensuring automated testing, version control, and smooth deployment flows. Containerization Strategy : Design strategies for deploying data applications using Docker/Kubernetes, defining the requirements for scalability and networking that the Infrastructure team will provision. Reliability & Observability Design : Define the observability standards (logging, metrics, alerting policies) for data platforms, ensuring the SRE/Infra teams implement the necessary monitoring hooks (e.g., in Azure Monitor/Grafana). Lead the design of "Self-Healing" data architectures, defining recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) for the Infrastructure team to support. Collaborate with the Infrastructure Team during critical incidents to provide architectural guidance and root cause analysis (RCA) from a data perspective. Leadership & Governance: Promote the adoption of DataOps culture, driving automation in testing, deployment, and data quality checks. Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML tools, new Azure features) and propose "Proof of Concept" initiatives to keep the platform modern. Mentor Data Engineers on best practices regarding cloud architecture, security compliance, and performance optimization. Job Requirements Education & Experience: Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant disciplines. 7+ years of hands-on solid IT experience, with a combined background in Data Engineering and Cloud/Solution Architecture. Proven experience acting as a technical lead or liaison between development teams and infrastructure/platform teams. Technical Skills: Deep Azure Expertise : Strong mastery of Azure data services (Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Gen2) and how they interact with underlying infrastructure (Networking, Private Endpoints). Data Architecture : Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL optimization, and modern data patterns (Lakehouse, Mesh, Medallion Architecture). Infrastructure Fluency : Ability to read and understand Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) to effectively review code and communicate with SREs (Writing code from scratch is not required, but reading it is essential). DevOps Knowledge : Strong conceptual knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and version control strategies (GitFlow). Soft Skills & Competencies: Bridge Builder : Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate "Data Needs" into "Infrastructure Specs" and vice versa. Strategic Thinker : Ability to look beyond immediate tickets and design for long-term scalability and stability. Leadership : Experience mentoring technical teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority. Proficient in spoken and written English; experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus.
